ATLANTA -- Comic book fans likely already know that Saturday is Free Comic Book Day!
Free Comic Book Day, which occurs on the first Saturday in May, is an annual event promoted by comic book publishers and independant comic book shops and geared toward educating more people about independent and small comic book publishers and small comic shops around the nation.
Selected comic books from a number of different publishers are available for free on Free Comic Book Day. In many cases, the comics are teasers for ongoing comic books, or starter issues that will tell you about the characters in the spotlighted book.
Different shops have policies on how many free comics shoppers can pick up, but the goal is to get shoppers to look at other comics, graphic novels and other merchandise in their local comic shop.
To find a participating comic shop near you, visit FreeComicBookDay.com.
