•• Hands-On< >< > Everyone has heard the little ditty: “Something old; something new; something borrowed; and something ROUX!” So, we took a little literary license and paraphrased the statement for our purpose this evening. Nevertheless, this new rendition cleverly sums up the modern approach to the cooking of the South. Southern cooking is literally a convergence of cuisines from varying countries around the globe: English, French, African, Spanish, Portuguese, and the Caribbean, each one leaving an indelible mark on the way we eat today. Tonight we will celebrate this diversity with a menu that beckons you to loosen the notch on your belt and gear up for seconds, and plenty of Southern hospitality. MENU: Fried Green Tomatoes with Goat Cheese & Bacon; Cornmeal Crusted Buttermilk Fried Chicken; Grits< >< > & Greens SoufflĂ©; Field Peas with Snaps; Crispy Sage Skillet Cornbread; and Coconut Cake with Ambrosia Filling.

BUY A HOME NOW!!

If you are thinking about buying NOW is the TIME! In Gwinnett County since January of 2012 there have been 678 Foreclosures and Government or HUD houses listed or are under contract.
There have been 928 Closed houses since the 1st of the year. For the same Foreclosures, Government or HUD houses.

To put that in perspective lenders have foreclosed on 1,700-2,500 homes every month in Gwinnett County. That is 14,000 (2,000 per month X 7 months) homes, since January 1st, 2012.

While only 209 of these have been listed since Jan. 1, 2012. The Banks are holding on to them for some reason.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME? There are fewer houses coming on the market and with rates low and even owner occupied buyers having access to cash, good opportunities are being put under contract more quickly. SO if you are thinking that NOW is the TIME contact me for assistance and guidance in buying your first or next home!

Snellville Farmers’ Market

date:Saturday, July 14, 2012 time:8:00 am to 12:00 pm
venue:
address:2342 Oak Road Snellville, GA 30078
View map from:Snellville Farmers’ Market

The market features products that come from farms and gardens that, for the most part, are located within a 100-mile radius of Snellville. However, because the area around Snellville is so developed, in some cases we have had to reach out beyond 100 miles to bring certain products to the market.

A farmers’ market is also a fun place to shop. What a wonderful Saturday morning activity it is for a family to rise early and head to the market. Surprises always await…like the first tomatoes of the season, juicy Georgia peaches still warm from the sun, a variety of squash you’ve never tried, or the pumpkins that mark the fall season.

American winemakers are producing sumptuous, earthy, and velvety wines that can rival those of Burgundy. The vineyards in Oregon have been referred to as The Burgundy of America. In Italy, Pinot Nero can be a hidden jewel in the panoply of great Italian reds.
